Who?
Organizing routes and events in Morocco for trail motorcycles since 2012
I’m Eduard López Arcos, originally from Barcelona and passionate about traveling and motorcycles. I get the best experiences traveling. I feel comfortable in remote places, where life is simple and people are hospitable. Despite being born and raised in a cosmopolitan city, over the years I have developed a certain allergy to big cities. I prefer silence, peace and tranquility.
Between 2011 and 2012 I made a journey through West Africa, crossing the continent from north to south, aboard a 2007 BMW R1200 GS that I called Red Zebra. At the end of the trip, that same year, I moved to live in the Moroccan desert, in front of the Erg Chebbi dunes, about 15 km from the border with Algeria.
I have specialized in trail motorcycle routes, riding through desert areas and in the design of routes suitable for heavy, medium and large displacement offroad motorcycles. I share my experience through guided routes for groups of motorcycle and offroad travel enthusiasts.
Merzouga Rally on BMW F800 GS
In 2016 I participated in the first Dakar Series in Africa, the Merzouga Rally. This demanding test was carried out with my BMW F800 GS, which was the only twin-cylinder that participated. I managed to finish in second position, in the Expert Rally category.
After living four years in the Moroccan desert I decided to expand my base to other corners of the world. My season is mainly distributed between Morocco, Southeast Asia (based in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and Hanoi, Vietnam) and Spain, for land and sea connections with Africa, and access to international flights from the airports in Madrid and Barcelona. The time I spend in Europe I usually travel through Portugal – where I have also participated in three events of the national rally championship -, France, Italy and occasionally other countries on the old continent. I am attracted to cultures different from the one I grew up with.
The Watch
Although it may seem like a contradiction, a trip of just a few days is better spent looking at the clock less. Sunlight and the circumstances of the road are the main variables that guide much of an expedition.
